Guide to watermark pdf
Use watermarks as visual markers
Text watermarks can provide context to a working copy, for example a “DRAF,” “COPY” label, or a project name. In this tool, the text you enter is placed diagonally on each page with a transparent display. Text length is limited to 60 characters; Choose short words so as not to cover too much content.
Watermarks are not encryption, redaction, or access protection. Recipients can still read the information behind the watermark, and this method does not prevent screenshots or copying. Don't add identification numbers or confidential data to the watermark. If it is necessary to withhold information, use appropriate permanent redactions and check the results before sharing.
Check the position on each page
After making a copy, review the page at different orientations or sizes to make sure the watermark text is still legible and doesn't cover important data. A display that fits on a straight A4 page may feel too large on a landscape or small page. Repeat with shorter labels if the document is difficult to read.
The source files remain on the device. Compare the watermarked copy with the source before sending it and make sure the recipient actually needs the label. Changes to a PDF that has a digital signature may affect the validity of the signature; maintain the original source and do not represent a watermarked document as a valid signed copy without inspection.
Additional limits and checks
All pages are given the same text; the tool does not provide separate page, color, size, or position options. Use short labels to keep the content readable. If a document should only be read by certain people, share it through channels that have access controls; The watermark alone does not limit who can open the file.
For information on file processing, see privacy policy. Limits on the tool's workspace apply if they are stricter than the general limits.
